Hi all,

following my thread on plantar fasciitis I was hoping people could suggest some supportive yard/riding boots that I will be able to also ride in. Im stuck in walking boots at the mo which are not ideal to ride in but are perfect for walking round the yard (I do have safety stirrups).

I need some boots that have a good cusioned sole with an arch support - any suggestions that won't break the bank??

Thanks in advance!

Seconded. I got the Grasmeres when they were on offer and my subluxating cuboid is so much better when riding in them, when compared to my previous boots (Pinnacles, which I loved but weren't supportive). The arch support is brilliant. The only thing is that I wear them all the time in the field as well, for the support, so I feel like I'm abusing a nice boot!

Rather than a type of boot I would recommend going and getting insoles. Specifically the ones moulded to your feet, not generic ones. If you can find a good podiatrist that would be the best. They can be swtiched between different boots/shoes and will provide the support you need

I have the same ailment and can't survive without my arch support insoles. I have a number of pairs so that i'm never without them. Really do recomend that you get some.

Ariats, with MTM insoles from a podiatrist.

Personally, I will never put my feet in Mountain Horse boots again. They caused the first bout in my right foot, and then a couple of years later, I tried them again - and my left foot went.
I then found out that my mum wore them when her feet 'went' as well...... shame she didn't tell me after the first time isn't it..... :D

I find that really interesting as I find them really good. I have 'weird' feet and ankles as I broke both ankles badly a few years ago, have wide feet with poor arches and my mountain horse long boots are the only ones I can wear without my insoles.
I suppose it depends on your foot shape which type will suit you and I wouldn't be suprised to find both you and your mom have similar feet :D

Thanks all- I do have insoles but have just also been advised to have a good quality boot as well. Will take a look into Ariats.

It's weird you say about mountain horse - I've had to stop wearing mine as noticed they make the condition worse!

Ariats, the best by far :) super comfy!

Have you tried rolling your foot over a tennis or soft spikey ball? :)

Oh yes! I'm a year in with the condition but after getting a second opinion am hopefully on the mend. I'm stretching all the time and rolling my feet on cans and tumble dryer balls lol.

I have insoles in my Equitector boots, which I find fantastic. I decided on steel toe caps after having my toe broken when a horse trod on it, and spending some of my time off researching the subject - now I won't work with a horse without my Equitectors on!

I would go and see a biomechanics podiatrist who can make some corrective innersoles, they are the only thing that work for me, boots just don't have enough support on their own!!

As well as good insoles and boots, can I suggest Turmeric capsules taken 1 per day. I have been plagued by this and on a whim tried these capsules and a fortnight later almost no pain. Not expensive but in my opinion really worth trying.

miy PF went to the extreme and my arches collapsed now have to wear orthotics or arch fit shoes. I don't think any shoes will help but these are great in the interim . https://www.amazon.co.uk/Absorbing-...eywords=gel+heel+cups&qid=1620370026&sr=8-150
