Plasters for awkward bits?

I've been battling with a small but persistant area of infection around my horse's coronet bands. He has had both oral and topical antibiotics and the infection is clearing up very very slowly, but it's not being helped by the weather. He lives out and it's wet and muddy and horrible. Keeping him in is not an option. In the absence of the hoped-for frozen ground, can anyone suggest a way to keep the area clean? I use hoof-boots when the ground is particularly mushy, but they're not designed to be on for long periods of time. He is perfectly well in himself and likes to hoon around, so I need something fairly secure. Bandages on their own or with duct tape on top are no good - they have to go around his foot to keep them low enough to protect the scabby bits and then they just wear through. I wondered about one of those spray-on plaster solutions, or if you can get plasters for animals (sure these existed a few years ago!)?

Thanks in advance!

I would try spray on plasters as a barrier or something like Vaseline as a barrier.

Boots will encourage sweat - warm plus wet = more infection.

Have you had vet to look at it... And how lOng has infection gone on for?
