I currently use flexi stirrups but have realised I am constantly moving my feet to get them in balance. Thought I'd try some plastic stirrups as I've ridden in them before, liked them and also like how they reduce the weight the horse is carrying!!

So can anyone recommend a good make? I saw the Shires ones and thought they looked ok. Also what size for a female size 6 normal feet?

I have a pair of plastic stirrups, the sides are attached to the foot rest part of the stirrup set diagonal from one another. They support my leg really well, and generally keep my leg and foot in a really good and comfortable position. The diagonal design of the stirrup means they stand away from the saddle too, so it's impossible to get them the wrong way round ☺️
Can't remember the make but I'll check and come back to tell you! I know they're not cheap though.

I have the shires compositi ones in the adult size. Could probably have got away with the childs size as have more than enough room in these but sometimes ride in wide yard boots so like the adults. The shires ones are super light and look really smart I think, also love the colourful treads!:)

I have shires compositi reflex ones. These give some flex in the foot tread so shock absorbing for joints but don't bend as much as the flexi stirrups. I love them. Only come in adult but I'm size 4/5 and they're fine for me.

Those are what I ordered this afternoon as well as new stirrup leathers. Thought I'd go the whole hog!! Am rather excited about them arriving. Thanks everyone for your input!!

I have thorowgood ones, black plastic, £10 from local tack shop. They are fab, never get sore, but with metal stirrups my feet go numb and ankles and knees start hurting after about 5-10 mins

I'm using my sister's Compositi profile ones at the moment and really like them. I'm considering a pair of the Reflex ones for myself though.
