After a long time for with an injury i am aiming to do my first dressage test on the 23rd march maybe even a bit before. Its only going to be unaff and probably just a walk and trot test to ease her back in.

I have a long necked tb which usually takes 19 plaits

.

How do you achieve those big style dressage plaits and what do you do with the damn bit of your horses mane that is rubbed out by rugs.

I dont like doing dressage unplaitted so i need some ideas on what to do with maddams mane and try to disguise the bald bit

Are you doing an unaff test?

My boy's mane has a bald patch, courtesy of a rug (which I am fixing this week - the rug that is!), so basically I just plait around it.

My horse is black so its not too noticeable.

If there are a few strands - what I did at the weekend was spray on some quickbraid, band into a "pony tail" effectively, plait and roll. loads of quickbraid/gel seems to do the trick!

with the big style anky plaits (do you mean those) you wont probably do 19 but only about 8 hun !! they are quite wide and the top is quite loose !!

where are you going to do the test

Thanks guys.

Stacey I am taking her to cobham manor ( well hope to after 2 sets backs in as many weeks ).

I have never heard of quikbraid- quick sounds like miralce stuff where can i get some hehe.

There is some mane but its very short and thin, she does have plenty of tail so i did think about cutting a bit from the centre and making some "spares" to put on using whats there.

I love those big dressage plats and need to learn how to do them because if this is all we can do in the future i dont fancy having to do so many everytime out.
