When i was at the yard earlier my pony Honey who used to be really nervous (not now) bit me very very hard for aparently no reason!
I was standing in her stable not even close and looking out the door, so i didnt see whether she had her ears back ect.
So next thing i know shes lunged at me and sent me flying into the wall, ive got a masive bruise and shes actually broken the skin. Its still throbbing now

Just wondering if a bite that hard could have been playful because as soon as i looked at her she just looked her normal self no ears back or anything, i did tap her on the nose (lightly because i was in shock!) because bitings unacceptable playful or not! But she didnt flinch, im pondering now whether it was agressive, what do you think?

IMO I would have thought it was more of a "trying to get your attention" nip? Especially if she's never done it before/not in her nature?

Yeah but its strange shes such a gentle mare, she doesnt even nibble at you if youve got treats :/ & ive never had a bite break the skin before from anyhorse so it must have been very much deliverate

Could it be related to food in any way (feed time)? Is she stabled more than usually? Anything else that could have gotten her in a bad mood?

Ive had her a few months, the only thing thats changed is her being moved to a field on her own because shes being bullied i supose that could be why, with a bit of luck she wont do it again
