PLE - help

My horse is currently being tested for PLE

Does anyone have any experience with this? Outcomes etc

He is 23 and non ridden

My horse (yearling) is loosing protein. Confirmed by blood tests. I have no outcome at the moment as we are still trying to work out why it’s happening. I hope you get some answers soon.

Sadly my outcome was not good. My boy was loosing protein, he went to rainbow last night. His pancreas was twisted. .. he had approx 10ltrs of fluid build up.

My understanding of PLE is it can be due to virus, ulcers, worm burden (happens a lot in foals) or growths in stomach which creates blockages. Blockages can be fatal. Virus, worms, ulcers, treatable with steroids etc and recovery is much higher.

Unfortunately my boy was PTS last night. ?

Please keep in mind every case is different. I shall cross my fingers for you for a positive outcome xx

I’m sorry to hear that you lost your boy. I lost my 25 year old in February due to colic, the vet said he had a growth and it had twisted. I hope your doing okay x
