I am looking to change my VERY messy horse onto rubber matting ( which i have never used before!) But i am unsure of what thickness i need to look for..
Please could you suggest /advise me on what mm is best for a 16.2 horse and what is a good manufacturer to go with? I have currently been hunting on ebay but still unsure ..any help very much appreciated

the general rubber matting around at the moment is about £40 a mat and is very very heavy, it 6ftx4ft dont know how thick it is but its not that thick, and that suitable for everything.

I have the 30mm equimat that cost me nearly £400 and the black 6' by 4' 140mm (I think) that was about £45 a sheet and the black seem to wear better- no stains or dents but very difficult to move and carry but the equimat are very easy to move and carry but stain easily and mine frayed b bit in one area by my horses shoe...

So it depends on how often you'll be moving them and how much bed you want to use too!

lve got the 30mm equimat ,which is brilliant for the big horses ,and the black mat co mats for the ponies stables.

very happy with both types, but you MUST have good drainage in your stables.

davies and co make both equimat and "THE BLACK MAT" ,very good company to deal with and answered all my questions quite happily ..

ring them,im sure they will give you good advice without being too pushy .

I think any of the heavy horse mats would be fine. They're a sod to lift and manoeuvre into place, but once laid they do tend to stay in place and certainly don't lift by themselves.

The ones to avoid are the cheaper and much lighter 'stall mats' (sometimes called 'comfort mats'.) You'll recognise them because they're so light. However, in-situ they're too light to stay flat. Unless stuck down very securely to the stable floor and around the edges, they're liable to flex and bend upwards under the weight of the horse. My neighbouring livery used these light mats and withing a couple of months of laying them (unsecured) they've lifted and bowed rending them useless. Meanwhile my heavy horse mats (secured) are brilliant. I bought the cheapest ones I could get at the time and they're still going strong after 5 years....
