Please always wear a hat! Fell off yesterday...

I had a similar fall about 9 years ago, my old horse went down on his front legs on landing , I went face down as he slid along quite a distance pushing my head in to the ground, before the rest of his body went side ways, he was fine, I was seeing three of everything, and my hat had cracked in two!! I was lucky to get away with minor head and neck injuries, I would hate to think what would have happened had I not been wearing my hat!

Ooooo that looks nasty!!! Redcascade I really feel for you as I fell off jumping yesterday as well! Hope both you and your horse are ok.
 
oooft that looked like it smarted!!! Thank god you had a hat on! Jumping can get really dangerous at times, and if the horse is out of rhythm or too fast etc, it isnt pretty! I had something similar, exept it was my back not my face, Horse rushed in, got too close, jumped it, I got unseated, whizzed around the corner (at a gallop, sod realised I lost control) and exited by side door and slammed into arena fence, I really do wish I was wearing a BP! heres my bruises

Yes please do, Im sure it will be intresting to see how your bruises develop! I hope they heal quickly! Im sure your face wont go that colour, I suppose you could always whip out your make up bag or buy a veil??? :P hot chocolate and biccies for you!
 
Haha, have already had the Ben&Jerry's out tonight, drown my sorrows with 1000calories :p Am at work in the shop tomorrow so should get some interesting looks ;) Make up it is I think, I don't usually wear any(unusal for a 16yr old eh? :p) I really hope it doesn't go that colour, is bound to get worse though :rolleyes:

B&J make everything better :P. Put some cool cucumber or an ice bag on your eye for 15 mins, it will reduce swelling a little. Hehe, just dont make your face orange or you will get even funnier looks ;p
 
ouch :O hope ur okay :) thats act a good idea to post this on h&h cos some people dont wear helmetsss.. its always the times u least expect it when u will fall. get well soon :) xx
 
Certainly does, they're my best friends :) Am going to the saddlery in the morning, I'm sure they'll understand :D Will do that in the morning if we have any cucumber(I'm a salad dodger :p)
My reasoning exactly Lorraine, I know that it doesn't really hit home until it happens to you though but it's the least I can do really...
 
Bumping up before I go to rest my poor face and neck, hopefully will come back feeling much better and my face will have gone down :p I will be back with a new hat tomorrow :D

Thank goodness you were wearing a hat and what an honest pony Red is !! Hope he isn't too sore after your tumble too :(

I am seriously thinking of getting an air jacket, I am not getting any younger and find when I do have "unsheduled" ;) dismounts I am not bouncing back so easily. I already bought a new hat as the old one was 10 years old so way overdue for retirement...

Hope you feel better soon, arnica gel will help bring out the bruising too, let pain killers be your temporary friend :D

Remind me again why we all seem to think that horse riding is a good idea?! :D

Because we like getting hurt ;)
Got a new hat yesterday and put them side by side, my old black one is now brown after many hours in the sun, I have a shiny new one though :D

Oh god yeah!!! I had to put my head in the sand to stop me yelping :D I have a long scar across my bottom now.....Thats me out of the sexiest bum of the year award :P

Oh thank god, it would of been horrible if you ended up looking like Pop eye ;). Theres nothing more exciting than a shiny new hat :P
