This kind of accident can happen at any time of year. Last summer a horse at our yard had to be pts after breaking both back legs when she slipped in the field.

Awful - happened last Dec to a little mare I loaned to a lovely girl, kept her in because of the snow but let her out for a stretch in the sand paddock and she broke her pastern...

Just wanted to post a warning about turning out in this weather, My mare who lived out 24/7 with field shelter had to be pts last night after slipping in the field and sustaing a fracture.
