Well the vet is coming out today to look at what I've got a horrible feeling is a sprained suspensory ligament in his off fore. Ronnie didn't look where he was putting his feet when I was doing loading practice last Wednesday night, and he just stepped off the edge of the ramp, landing heavily on concrete. His fetlock swelled up and I wasn't sure if that was from the heavy landing or from the cut he'd got in the field that day. So, poulticed it and bandaged it and it seemed to be improving. He wasn't lame. I kept cold compressing it and by Saturday it seemed so much better, so did the inhand show on Sunday at the yard. Yesterday he got turned out for the first time, and he came in with it warm and bigger again. It's exactly where the suspensory ligament branches near the bottom.

I'm so worried

Please keep your fingers crossed that it's not that, and it's merely a bruise or something

ohno, hope ronnies ok and its not the suspensory- had this with my older boy last year- except it was PSD, he's ok now though if thats any consolation!
its probably just a bruise or a tweak if he's not showing any signs of lameness though, fingers crossed for you both.

Thank you. I'm supposed to be writing an important email and I just can't concentrate. Really hope vet can come out this morning rather than afternoon as I'm not sure I'll make it through the day here!

Thank you

Poor little man, his leg doesn't seem to be bothering him at all but I shall be gutted if it's months of box rest and possible not 100% recovery. Am praying to every god there is that it's just a bruise or something!

xx

Try not to worry too much until the vet gets there. I always do that - panic and start planning retirement homes etc then the vet says antibiotics or 2 days rest or something and he'll be fine

I feel silly after but it's hard not to panic
