I really need to change Jerry's insurance value as it is currently very low (what I paid for him) I know I have asked about this before and the general consensus was that to just insure him at the cost to replace him with another youngster. But if I did lose him I don't think I want to have to go through all that hard work again lol I might want the option of buying something that is at the place he is at now (if that makes sense)

So I really need an accurate value for him, just in case further problems arise, if I don't do anything about it then you are guaranteed they will

So, he is a 16.2hhish TB x ID gelding, nearly 6, fab jump, tricky flat work, xc schooled and very bold, good looking

, will be hopefully doing an intro next spring and then hopefully PN by the end of the season. (pic of him in my sig)

Thanks

Well I would have said £5 - £6k, but having been looking for a horse like him the prices being asked are nearer £8k!
Be realistic as tricky flat work might put a few people off.

He looks lovely though!

My understanding is that it is very difficult to get values changed, unless on gruonds of competition winnings. Insurers won't pay up what you say he is worth, even if you've insured for that, only what they think he is worth - which might only be the original value. I'd speak to your insurer about the evidence they need.

yes i had my mare revalued and they just needed a letter from ain instructor-however i only insured her for 5000 as otherwise they needed a 5 stage vetting.

i would say no more than 5k as a realistic price..i know prices are high atm..but as you say his flatwork is tricky etc etc..and that would set you enough money to be able to replace him if anything happened to him.

I think its tricky because much of his worth is in his potential, rather than what he is right now. Right now I would say probably worth around £3500 bearing in mind flatwork issues, but with a few more months of work and some competition experience I think he will easily double that value.
