Please don't lunge your horse............

I also have to do the '...and staaaaannddd....woaaahhh.....staannnndd....fine sod it....keep going....'!

Makes a nice change to have a light hearted post for once!

*takes a bow* for a 'thread in the spirit of the forum' :D
And pssst I lunged my horse tonight because I forgot it was biker night and I can't ride him on biker night he is way too stressed, and in keeping with this months theme of being a show horse he was lunged in side reins and worked very well :)

OMG i have read all pages (and thats a first) and giggled laughed and spat wine everywhere - whilst(ok serious hat on here) lunging is fantastic when done correctly pmls you lot are amazing to just make a tired worried person roll around laughing - to you guys I say thank you xxx

I have a wheely chair right here - must look and see how I can modify it to sit it in the middle of my paddock.

Friend had a large metal post sunk into the middle of his lunge area as he had a mare that would be gone over the hills at the drop of a hat. Loop the end of the lung line over it and she couold only go in circles.

Invest in a walker - put horse in and set to trot and go and have a cuppa, go back change direction and go and have another cupper.

TBH I love lunging and think it has a very important part in training a horse but I do cringe when I see people 'lunging' at shows. Unfortunately it's not really taught like riding is.

I like Doppel - longe, and I'm pretty good at that.

Not a fan of BHS lunging - I don't like standing still while the horse trots round me in circles, so had the genius idea of standing inside a tyre to remind me to stand still whilst preparing for an exam.

The inevitable happened - horse pissed off, I tripped over tyre trying to stop him, landed on my face, and Hey Presto - dressage horse to driving horse.

It's hard to swear furiously with a mouthful of rubber, and thoroughly demoralising when people you thought were your friends are on the floor laughing at you!
