Newbie babybells posted a few days ago about her much loved pony Star who had been diagnosed with serious liver damage. She was trying to get the best possible help and advice to help her ponio, to enhance what the vets were trying to do. In the middle of this huge effort to save her, Star sadly deteriorated dramatically and had to be pts. Her ashes are back home now and we all know how babybells is feeling. Please could we all let her know we are thinking of her and send her some healing vibes. Also if anyone can remember the link for the lady who makes jewelry out of horse tails, could you let bbs know. So sorry chick - we are all thinking of you. Stay strong. xxx

(PS - will post in NL too but won't let me at the mo)

That's very sad, my condolences to her; it's very hard but at least, for the pony, its suffering is over now and she knows she did the best thing for Star. No pony can ask more of an owner and it takes a brave one to listen and act on that.
Sorry I can't help with the link.

My old pony aged 40 also died of liver failure so I can relate. I still have his and his buddy of 27 years side by side in the attic until I can scatter them together. I know what she is going through and yes it does get easier but the memories live on and so do the good times. Big hugs and thinking of her.

Oh no, I remember that post. how desperate and awful, she was trying so hard to help that pony

"I'll lend you for a little while, my Grandest Foal." God said,
"For you to love while he's alive, and mourn for when he's dead.
It may be one, or twenty years.
Or days or months, you see.
But will you 'till I take him back,
take care of him for me?
He'll bring you charms to gladden you,
and should his stay be brief,
You'll have those treasured memories
as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught on earth
I want this foal to learn.
I've looked the whole world over
in my search for teachers true
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,
with trust I've selected you.
Now, will you give him all your love,
nor think the labour vain,
Nor hate me when I come
to take him home again?
I know you'll give him tenderness,
and love will bloom each day,
And for the happiness you've known,
you will forever grateful stay.
But should I come and call for him
much sooner than you planned,
You'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
and maybe understand."

Babybells,

I had my mare pts in July last year so I can imagine how you are feeling at the moment. All I can say is it is very very hard but as mentioned it does get easier as the months go by. Memories of the good times are the things to hold onto. Take your time. I am sure everyone reading this is thinking of you.
