i had a moment of weakness at the newforest sales in oct......im not looking for a lecture about how silly i was please!!!!
but i came back with a STUNNING welsh x arab roan filly, 7months old. completly wild and is my first ever foal, everything has been going great, she has a rug on, wormed and has her feet trimmed, lets me pick her feet out without a headcoller on etc and over all an absolute sweetheart!
anyway, at the beginning of jan she came in lame..like really lame, could only canter with her hind legs together, vet was called, she gave her bute, baby came sound.......baby went back out and within 20mins she was crippled!!!
its heart breaking as she really wants to jump and play like a baby should.

vet now wants to xray stifles, a friend of mine suggested a "different" approach............whats everyones views? ideas etc? any suggestions please!!!!!! thanks

In my opinion you need to understand what is wrong with your youngster and the best course of action would probably be the investigations your vet is advising based on what he/she has seen so far.

Not quite sure what you mean about another approach?

Go with the vet without a doubt and box rest until you have a diagnosis, baby should not be out in a field when she is this lame and has no diagnosis.

a horse whisperer!
by this does friend mean a monty roberts type? or an animal communicator?
Anyone who works on a spiritual level with animals will tell you that it is not in place of veterinary treatment and that they are not qualified to make a diagnosis. In fact it is illegal. The Veterinary Surgery Act of 1966 prohibits anyone other than a qualified veterinary surgeon from treating animals, including diagnosis of ailments and giving of advice on such diagnosis.

So take your vets advice and get the x rays done. hope he manages to sort it out.

I don't think I really need to tell you what to do, you know yourself, don't you???? But just to spell it out, V....E....T...... then if you really are a believer in animal communicator/horse whispers etc by all means have one out aswell but certainly not instead of the vet! Do what the vet recommends.

It does sound like a patella issue so i would def advise x-rays - although I would have thought a vet could diagnose without and with a bit of manipulation first then x-rays if not 100% sure what was going on?

VET....as soon as.

As someone said if you want to use an animal communicator also (I had one out myself to my girl last week incidently) go ahead but not in place of having a vet out.

Good luck :)

Sadiemay.

deff agree with everyone on the vet. If your friend knows a horse wisperer type that can make a horse sound can she send them my way. Have a jumping horse retired after a suspensory injury, would like a miracle!! :)
