The bridle way at the end of a local lane that crosses the railway line had been closed for 3 years. Recently been re opened, however the rider/horse gate is not only difficult to use, it is impossible to manouver around as there is so much"furniture" and so little space.
A local lady arranged a meetimg with the railway people to discuss the problem, and she intended to take her horse to demonstrate, but them had a riding accident and was in plaster.
She asked for volunteers to bring a horse , but short notice and everyone at work. I was free but never used that route and was too nervous to take my horse there as have not seen trains. I felt bad that I could not be of use, and said I would come and bring a rug to help to show how long a horse was.
She rang me up and asked me to bring a fly mask too.
So on the day, she, a friend that drove her and another lady met with 2 railway officials. We are all older ladies.
She took a broomstick from the car, attatched the fly mask, the pole was the neck, then the rug- and we had ourselves a pantomine horse.
And then 2 of us attempted to demonstrate that the space was too small to manouver a horse and other problems. Highlights being when I did not understand bits of where she wanted me to be and she was hopping round i on crutches trying to demonstrate things.
Anyway , our points were made, and the man went off to write his report. And I wonder if it ended with- Please give the mad old bats what they want cause I cant stand any more of this.
