Partridg3, we're very sorry to hear you're in this situation. It sounds as though you are taking care and thought into making sure you are doing the best thing in the best way for your loved animals.

As others have suggested, we are ready and able to provide a listening ear and any impartial help and support you feel you need.

You might find our Friends at the End scheme especially useful. Our Friends are specially-trained volunteer BHS Welfare Officers who have all been through a loss themselves and can be there for you as much or as little as is required - whether that's as a sounding board for if euthanasia is the right option for you and your animals, right through to someone to be there for you all on the day itself if that's what's decided. It's a free service designed to make sure that no horse owner has to face the loss of their equine companion alone. You can find out more at http://www.bhs.org.uk/welfare-and-care/euthanasia-and-friends-at-the-end, and feel free to get in touch with our Welfare team at HQ on 02476 840517 or welfare@bhs.org.uk.
