I'm putting my mare into foal this year, and for the life of me cannot choose between the stallions Eros and Flammengold.

My mare has fantastic temperament and conformation, and stands at a full up 15hh. We do dressage and jumping and she's talented in both, and has also been uawd.in films as she alsi drives and does tricks.

Her only flaws are that she dishes in both fronts and she can can take a while to relax with new people (she's very suspicious). She isn't registered as was a rescue ugly duckling- but is believed to have some fresian or Spanish blood somewhere in there.

I'd be looking to mostly do dressage with her foal, but also jumping and possiby event. I'm planning on keeping it :)
I'm only 5ft1 so not looking to produce something massively bigger.

My mare is all very dark brown (black most of the year) with 2 hind socks, and is very pretty if I say so myself!

What's are your opinions on these stallions? Has anyone got offspring from them? Can talk about their conformation? Im really torn. I've spoke to both their owners who are lovely and very helpful, but doesn't make it easier to decide!

Two totally diferent types of stallions. Flammengold will be a lot more established with plenty of stock on the ground a lot of those in Germany. Looking at the EROS website they only seem to be trying to sell him on one point ,his colour. To be honest he has not been performance tested as far as I know
Sorry for being negative but with your mares unknown breeding you could end up with anything. You may end up with something totally unsuitable for yourself. If she is 15hh and you believe she has friesian or spanish blood, she most likely has got pony in the mix as well.
As for offspring as I say there are plenty of Flammengolds about either here or in Germany the ones I have seen are correct they always seem to do well in the futurity. As for eros he has few about the AES have only registered one a year apart from that I have not seen any. Theres lots of other stallions out there that would probably suit your mare what are your priorities ? Why did you pick those two? that would help us help you. I will let others find other points to discuss maybe.

Thank you.

I said unknown breeding wrony, I've seen both of her parents but they're not registered. Her mum was very fresian looking and much taller than her at 16hh, and her dad much smaller (yes possibly pony in there) and very Spanish looking. She's come out much finer.

I've seen both stallions and really liked them, plus I am wanting a homozygous black stallion to produce a dark foal. I'm looking for something homozygous black with good conformation and a good attitude, like her.
Homozygous black being as my mare is heterozygous, and I 100%want a dark foal- so the homozygous gene is needed to cancel the chance of a chestnut or brighter bay.(personal.preference)
I'll try put a pic of my mare up if I can figure out how.
There's a lot more information etc about Eros on their Facebook page rather than the website.
I've had my mare scanned and x-rayed last year and my vet said she was exceptionally well put together with no changes in her hocks etc, so I do believe with a good cross I could end up with something quite well, and she has a great brain with a good attitude.
