Hi,
I've scratched my saddle - no idea how, but I'm gutted! It goes from the skirt all the way down the saddle flap, and is quite deep :( I've tried so hard to look after it, I clean it every time I ride.
Does anyone have any tips on how to get rid of it or help cover it up?

I've found with my saddle that alot of the scratches fade over time with regular cleaning. I would continue cleaning it regulary and spend abit more time cleaning the scratched area.

It might be worth asking a saddler as they will know whats best to put on the leather to restore it. Also remember to oil the underside of the saddle, that should help too.

Thanks guys, I did give it a good clean, I'll oil it tomorrow and keep cleaning it.
I've emailed the saddler I bought it from, I'm hoping he'll have a magic wand that can put it right! :(

once saddle is clean but not soaped try rubbing a clear wax candle hard on the scratch.go with the grain of the leather, then rub with your finger nail to flatten. like boning leather, then soap as usual. the scratch will flatten and after riding in it a few times should be invisable. make sure your boots/chaps are clean with no grit or mud up the insides before riding.

No help with the actual scratch sorry but I'm forever doing the same thing - I think it's when you get off in a coat with a zip or velcro on the front (my hi-viz is the worst offender), just try to remember to undo the zip / velcro and pull the two sides apart before you get off and push yourself a bit away from ponio so your coat doesn't scratch the length of the saddle!!
