Please help me find a new horse, south west.

My 6 year old WBxTB mare was pts this morning. It wasn't unexpected but the only thing keeping me going right now is the thought of finding another horse. Is this normal? I just cant bare the thought of life without my horse. I've never not had one and the gaping hole in my life and empty stable/paddock is going to hurt.

But I have bred all my own horses until this point; the horse lost today was the last i bred from the last of my mares and has been my sole horse for the past 4 years. Now am terrified at the prospect of looking for one to buy. There are so many pitfalls and I dont have loads of money to spend so feel looking for one is going to be a mine field. I just couldn't bear to go through another bad experience.

Can anyone recommend any 100% trustworthy dealers or know of a good sound jumping horses for sale in the South West? Looking for a quality horse 15.3 and 16.2, between 2 and 7 to bring on to jump, XC, riding club, low level eventing and hunting. Please PM me if you can help me. Afraid budget is only £2,500 though but I do promise a forever home for the right horse and 100% best quality care and love.

Thank you. Just cant stop bursting into tears and me a 47 year old woman. Hearing her welcoming whicker to me this morning and hugging her goodbye was living hell. I still cant quite believe what I have done and that she is gone.

I have a project Welsh/TB 4 year old mare which we have just backed, sat on and trotted on lunge, lovely attitude and very easy - lack of time - asking £1500. We are based in Essex
 
So sorry Spyda. I know just how you feel. When I lost my old boy, although he was irreplaceable, the only thing that kept me going was the thought of another. Although he was 27, his death was unexpected so it took me a few weeks to get over the shock and to start looking and 3 months to find Archie but it was definitely the right thing to do for me. I still well up thinking of Eb 9 years on, though!

I was the same with the dog, 4 days between losing Jake and getting Mabel. I just couldn't come home to an empty house.

Work's a bit quiet today so I'll do a few searches for you.
 
 
Aw....... so sorry for your loss OP.

Know what you mean about "feeling disloyal"; when I lost my old boy I just didn't feel right about riding another horse somehow........ it just felt very, yes, "disloyal".

Hope you find something soon, can't help in that direction only to give you the advice my very wise farrier gave me, which was to look for something completely different next time round.

Just worried he's cheap. I know ex-racers are two a penny but with the progress that one seems to be making and if he's as genuine as they suggest, you'd think they might be asking a bit more for him.

He just looks priced to sell to me. There are a lot of TB's for sale some better some worse; but they're all going pretty cheap.

He looks like a nice type, forward going and brave for a 4yo

A 4 year old TB is always going to be pennies.
 
 
So sorry about losing you horse :-(

I bought my warmblood from Mark Bosanko based near Newton Abbot, he might have something within your budget but it will probably be unbroken.
He has a website that he keeps fairly up to date.
 
I am so sorry for your loss. I lost a 6yr old earlier in the year (unexpectedly) and felt so horrific even contemplating getting another. I even sat and cried on the journey to look, and would have turned round had it not involved a plane journey.

I will point a friend towards this as she has some lovely quality youngsters at the moment and may have something suitable.
