Please help me!

I have a amazing pony on loan, 14.2hh, connemara x cob, 14years old, (sally b)
She is a really friendly pony, but she has a few issues'.

1st) She is keen to go into the feild, so she walks ahead dragging her leader, she does this everyday,she has regular turnout everyday. But when it was snowing before christmas, she didnt go into the feild, so she became bargy. How can i control her? She has currently got a headcollar when she pulls metal bits, are jabed in her head, however this dosnt bother/affect her because she still pulls.
2nd) When the ground of the menarge is hard, i dont ride because i dont wont to hurt her or myself. After christmas the ground was still slightly hard but she needed to be exersized, so i rode her, and she was being spooky, in one menarge, so i rode in the other one, where she must have got overexited, she unexpectly bolted across the menarge, and done a huge buck, i came flying of just missing a jump wing, as i was laying on the floor, she cantered over to the gate and stopped. I was scared, as i got a nasty scrape, up my side, so i diddnt remount i put her rug on and put her onto the horse walker for her to walk it off, i then put her away and diddnt ride her for a few days. What caused her to bolt and buck?
3rd) She is turntout in a feild on her own, with horses in the next door feild, for company. When she is in season she is hard to catch, i have tryed, putting a sensible horse in her feild with her, this dosnt work,so now i catch her in when she is in season with a carrot/treat. Wich i dont like doing because she is only coming to get the treat, any idears?
Before i brought her she was lame for 1 year, and in that time she was unhappy and bored, so could this have anything to do with it?
Before you give my advice bear in mind that i am a very experienced horse owner/rider, and im willing to give anything a try. She does lunge well, allough if she gets bored she will e a rascle, AND PLEASE DONT SUGGEST THAT I JUST SELL HER, I WONT DO THAT! Thanks for reading:)
 
Do you think maybe returning her to her owners would be most sensible before one of you gets seriously hurt. You have had her a while and it sounds like the two of you arent compatible. Thinking of her, you dont want her to keep getting away with her behaviour and then going past the point of no return and ruining her completely.
 
I'm sorry to be harsh but these are very basic problems so someone who is "a very experience horse owner / rider" should be able to deal with them.

If you are determined to continue with this horse then find yourself a decent instructor to show you what to do.

It sounds quite simply as though the mare is taking the mick and needs confident handling to sort out the barging issue. Riding wise I suspect may be the same but obviously get the normal checks done - teeth, back & tack.

Sounds like she is walking all over you.
Get a behaviourist out or someone who knows a bit about horse behaviour to establish some ground rules.
I.e she must back up when you go in the stable, and must not walk ahead of you etc.
Failing this I ditto what AmyMay says as it sounds like you may be a bit overwhelmed with this horse.
 
It doesnt sound like behavioural problems to me , just sounds like a cob trying it on and using her strength against you

I suggest you get some help from an instructor.

As a by the way, if she is on loan surely you cant sell her anyway ?

I am sorry but you don't sound like a very experienced horse owner/rider.

Get a decent instructor to help you several times a week. These are very basic issues and it just sounds to me like you're nervous/novicey and confusing the hell out of the pony. You have to be consistent.

I'd start on the ground with her, getting her respecting your space and leading politely.

I highly doubt she bolted with you, she probably cantered off, if she was truly bolting she wouldn't have stopped at the gate. And in answer to why did she buck, because she's a horse. Could be a number of reasons, maybe she wanted you off, maybe she's in some sort of discomfort, maybe because you hadn't ridden her for along time. I don't know what you're expecting of her.

I'd either send her back and get something more suited to your abilities or get a good instructor and someone to work with her. Once all pain has been ruled out she needs schooling through these issues, not just getting off her and putting her away. Sorry but if you're a nervous rider you aren't going to be able to work through her issues by yourself, they will only get worse.

I didn't mean its a behaiour problem, I didn't word it very well - long day at work :D
I meant that I think the owner needs to be shown by someone how to establish the ground rules and a behaviourist will be able to show her how to do this :)
 
I'm a bit confused, am I right in thinking this pony is on loan, yes?

Have you spoke to the owners about the issues you have having?, agree with one of the other posters although please don't take this the wrong way but there not really big issues if you are experianced with handling horses but even so with the right help, they could be sorted easily, do you have an instructor that comes to your yard that could help?
 
1) Lead her to and from the field in her bridle.

2) She's a horse, she was full of herself due to limited exercise, she had a bit of a bounce about and you fell off. Best thing would have been to lunge her for ten minutes and then get back on - but it's too late now, remember it for the future.

3) She's coming for the treat - great, she's coming to be caught so no problem, job done.

As others have suggested, however experienced you think you are it does sound like you would benefit from a few lessons both on the ground and in the saddle from a decent instructor.
 
You need to get a good instructor to give you some groundwork lessons so that you know how to handle your horse correctly and can get her to respect your space when leading.
Lead your horse in her bridle if necessary with a lunge line attached and make sure you walk at your horses shoulder and are aware of her body language (the majority of horses will give some sort of warning before they pull away).

I'm assuming your horse behaved badly due to being fresh, you should have remounted really. Again a good instructor can help you cope with any ridden issues.

I don't see any real issue with giving your horse a single treat to allow to to catch her when she is in season and more interested in staying in her field near the other horses than coming in.
 
It sounds as though you are using a 'Be Nice' halter on her which is creating intolerable pressure on her poll and not being used in a way that allows her any release from that pressure. If you are using a sledgehammer to crack a nut in the halter department then I'll just bet you're using a strong gag bit for ridden work (pressure overload) I would get rid of the gadgets and get an instructor.
