My horse has had this really bad 'scurf' for about a week now, its in patches and theres LOADS coming out. Im not entirely sure what it is, i have been told its a nettle rash, and she does go in them a lot, but i'dve thought that would just be lumpy, not flaky, but then again it does seem to be uncomfortable for her.

She hasnt been washed for weeks, so its not that.
Shes clipped out so I was wondering if washing her in teatree or something similar might help.

any suggestions as to what and how to get rid of would be lovely

I believe this is probably harvest mites which then causes a 'mud fevour' (sorry spelling) type infection. Wash in an insectcide shampoo and then get something from your vet to treat the mud fever. I have had real problems with one horse with this although it has not affected other horses.

where is she scruffy? if it is her body it is probally due to her getting her winter coat wash in tea tree shampoo and give her some omega 3 and 6. if it is her legs heels it is probally the start of mun fever wash her in the same shampoo dab of until totally dry then apply flamazine cream to affect areas!
