Right Everyone, I really need your help (please no nasty comments) i just want your opinions.

I have 2 horses one is mine which is a 15.2 hw cob that i have had for 1 1 1/2 years and bought after i sold my mare that could only hack i bought him as a project to turn into a show cob however he is not really a show cob or showy sort so we have just resorted to a bit of schooling and hacking (Which he loves) he has only been ridden once a week when i got him due to lack of time and he is 15 years old now.

The other is a tbx 14 years old and we bought her 4 months ago as my husband wanted to ride out with me and go on fun rides ect. But now has more work and been working away so i have been riding her and really dont feel comfatable as im a med build and feel simply to heavy for a tbx even though she has a good amount of bone.

All i have wanted to do for the past 3 years is get back into showing but have never had the right horse or funds to buy a decent horse without some probs and i am now finding it really hard to manage time & money with having 2 horses too and just want the one my husband no longer has time to ride.

So what do you think of the option of selling both to really good hacking/fun homes and buying something that is an allrounder with show potential and a bit younger?

Please note i only want the best for the horses and would deffo vet homes and let them go on trials to make sure they are the right horses and will not get sold on again.. I am just confused and my head is hurting everyone is going to shows ect and really wish i could go too.....

Thank you in advanced i love this forum so far as the people are really helpful... x :-)

Well you've got to do what makes you happy. Horses are expensive pets at the end of the day if you're not getting out of them what you want.

I would also add that I really recommend NOT letting them go on trial anywhere. I have seen so many occasions when this has gone worng and you get back an unsellable horse. Thoroughly vet the homes, let the horse be tried at YOUR yard as much as you can, but I'd never let them go anywhere without money having changed hands first.

Good luck!

Thank you for your reply..

My main worry is that people at the livery yard im on with have a bitch but my husband says i should not worry about others :-(

I agree they are expensive and want to be able to have just the one that i can spend all my time, money and effort on and give it the best care :-)...

But it will be very sad saying goodbye to them as they are lovely horses and at 14 - 15 i want the best lives for them possible.

Regarding the trail i will not let them go of the yard thanks for the advise didnt think of that lol.

What you say above sounds like a perfectly reasonable plan, especially as you will take an interest in the kind of homes you are selling on to, you are not just going to get rid asap! :)

With regards to the people at your livery yard - try to ignor it and do what makes you and your husband happy. People will take any excuse to have a bitch it seems :D

Yes im not in no rush to sell them a good home is more important than anything :-).. I know what you mean our livery has some really nice people on it but you know that when you have gone they will give anything to have a good bitch haha..

Well i will keep you all updated with the selling & buying the new horse...

Xxx
