*also in hunting but more people in here*
I am going to hound exersise with the Beaufort this week. I was speaking to my YO and she said I can wear my tweed jacket, which is brown tweed, but then said actually I cant because it has a velvet coller and they wont let me wear it.
is it really forbidden to have a velvet coller on a tweed jacket? will I get laughed off the field? what about when it gets to Autumn hunting time? im going to be wearing a pony club tie, because I am going with the pony club if that makes any difference.
Also is a navy blue numnah ok?
thanks in advance, and cookies for all who are kind enough to read this!

Your tweed jacket will be fine for hound exercise and Autumn hunting. Although the velvet collar is not technically correct, hunts are so much more relaxed these days and no one will worry about a minor detail like that, so long as you have made an effort to look generally smart and tidy! A navy numnah would be fine too. Just enjoy yourself!

Go and have fun

Where I hunt (Brocklesby) one of the hunt secretaries cubs in a wax jacket because she has 'got too fat for her tweed jacket' (her words). If people want to winge about a velvet collar (allthough I can't imagine anyone would), you need to find a friendlier pack. Most hunting people are lovely and very supportive of newcomers to the field, and I am sure you will be made most welcome

I did not know this! Mine has a velvet collar, I went out with the Cotswold on Saturday - noone said a word
