Hi

Does anyone know if this yard exists??

Turnout (doesn't need to be 24/7), decent hacking, decent school can be DIY ( as long as services available) or part livery. Looking to consider anywhere from High Beech/ Epping/ Romford / Hornchurch/Brentwood.

I am really really struggling to find somewhere so any sugggestions welcome

Thanks

Try Harolds Park Farm - very big yard, good faciliites, livery service if you want it or DIY. Good hacking, XC course, indoor and outdoor schools, horse walker etc.

Reason I left is that Cairo was getting too old to to on HW and needed more t/o - George closes the field for up to 2 months in winter, but I understand he has put in more fields. He was also happier in the very small yard I am at in his autumn years.

I still go up there for competitions and hack around the area and would go back there if I was not where I am now.

Thanks for your reply. The only thing that put me off there was that I have heard they do close the fields for a couple of months in the winter. How did you find this? I would exercise him everyday but worried about him not going out. DO the horses there seem to cope ok with it?

Cairo was fine until he got older. He went on the HW in the morning and then in the evening was exercised and then put in the t/o pen with another of our horses for a roll and groom.

Jemima was fine on this routine too.

Delia loved it as she really did not like to be out in the cold and wet in winter.

The only one I had a problem with was Fleur my WB. She needed to have a few hours out at least every other day to stay sane. It was not lack of exercise, but the needs to be a horse at grass that was her problem.

As said, I understood George is now offering more winter t/o so it may be worth a call to him to see if this is the case.

Where I am now we get 4 days a week t/o but have to stay in 3 days from end October to about 10th May, then we are on 24 x 7 t/o. Our Winter t/o by mid January is a mud pit but they can have hay and a leg stretch which is better than nothing.

Winter t/o in this area is like golddust, especially if there are good facilities. If you can get over to Harlow, Eastwick Lodge normally has livery vacancies on the board. If you want, I will be there at the weekend and can see if there is anything going and PM the numbers to you.

Yard I am on is in Epping. We get 24/7 turnout in summer, and all day in winter. It has a decent outside floodlit school and great hacking. It is full at the moment, but can give you the number if you want to have a look and maybe get on the waiting list.

It is DIY, but there is help available.

I would suggest my yard as it ticks most of the boxes. The winter turn out is an issue.... it is there after a fashion for a few hours in daylight but the winter paddocks are usually a mud pit within weeks
