Please Help! She WON'T take care of her horse!

yes i can just imagine getting lawyers involved and who would win ..... yes the bol ddy solicitors ...

You wouldn't have had to involve a solicitor.

Any way, it's all semantics. The OP has the horse and will treat it accordingy to what is best for it.

I would love to say that the animal welfare organisations responses suprise me but they dont. They can enter land and confiscate animals when they see fit.

I do feel for you, you are now burden with another costly animal which you owe nothing too. Whatever happens you are now going to lose out financially big style. I hope you can sort something out sharpish.

Animal welfare organisations are bound by the law. Don't have a go at them because the law is deficient - write to your MP instead and try and improve the law.

bl**dy hell, Lisa, well done ! I know it's not the best outcome, but in the circumstances, at least you got as far as you did. Looking forward to hearing how the horse gets on. sm xx

Again, astonishing at the girl's complete lack of maturity or sense of responsibility. Perhaps you should just send her a link to this thread so she can see just what people think of her - might get her thinking. Or maybe not, she doesn't sound like the thinking type.

It's very unfair that you've been saddled with the horse, but definitely the best outcome for the mare, even if not for you...

Well done you for taking responsibility and I hope the horse goes on to have a happy retirement whatever you decide to do with her. One thing I will say is that I think you mentioned way back in your first post that this girl is at equestrian college. She obviously has some issues in her personal life given that she is with foster parents, and I wouldn't normally like to interfere with the career of someone who is at least at college furthering her education. However it does worry me that someone who is at equestrian college clearly has no respect whatsoever for the welfare of a horse she took on. I would certainly be tempted to contact her tutor and explain the situation. It's a difficult one, but I do think there is a an issue here.

bloody hell you poor person!! I have to agree with all of the above, but you dont want to be doing anything silly that can get yourself into trouble. If she cant even afford bus money she shouldnt even have a horse!! I walk 2 mile to see my horse and 2 mile back uphill, piece of cake, 4 mile isnt going to harm her. Im in bandages and crutches too so I cant walk to the yard at the moment :(, I hate not seeing my horse incase somethings wrong or he has a cut (I've been forcing my boyfriend to go see him), so I don't even know how she can live with having that on her concience!!

edited bit; sorry just seen your reply, well im glad that horrid women is finished with, shame you now have responsibility of a horse you dont want but Im sure the mare is in a better place in better hands, even if she is PTS at least she isn't suffering

I wonder if there's a case for having her PTS rather than the horse... gene pool cleansing... I'd be happy for my taxes to go toward it.

Seriously Lisa, I'm sorry you've ended up with the hassle but I am glad you now have responsibility for the poor thing!

At least you can sleep at night, as I said "3 million pages" ago I suspect the horse will sit in your field eating your grass for the rest of its days.

To the thousands of people on this post who have taken an interest in this sorry tale, perhaps if we all sent a few quid it would at least off set some of your costs and I am sure if there is excess that it could be passed to a suitable welfare charity who are have thousands of tales like this.

If you want to set up a just giving account I would be more than happy to get the ball rolling with a fiver.:)

Remember for every person like this girl in the world there is thousands more that are decent. And hopefully we would all step in and do our best for the horse.
