I bought a 4yr old filly last year at a sale she was very thin and looked hellish but she really jumped!! After a winter of food and TLC she looked like a different horse! She had two months off at the start of the year and had a silly small cut injury when she came in so had another few weeks off.. But 6 weeks ago when being led out she spooked and got her legs tangled and fell over! She looked unharmed and was not lame.. But three weeks ago when being led out of her stable she was incredible stiff! She found it difficult to walk for the first few steps but then was fine! And everyday she was a little stiffer.. We got a chiropracter and he said she had some sore muscles and a vertebrea out so he massaged her and said she should be fine! A week on she is now very stiff and is out in the field to keep her walking! Got another specialist in muscles and he said the same that she was very sore but should be fine! The vet came to take her bloods to test her muscle enzymes and they are perfect.. So its not muscular at all!! :/ any opinions? She seems to be getting worse!!

i would say that if she is getting stiffer and the stiffness is returning after she has been treated to try to relieve the stiffness that there is underlying pain. I personally would get a vet to do a thorough lameness examination. She maybe lame bilaterally so it's not that obvious, but she's in pain and therefore holding herself in a strange way to try to relieve the discomfort and hence the stiffness.

I would get the vet out again and organise a lameness work up but also get a veterinary physio therapist on side to see what he/she thinks. It sounds as if she may have become cast in her stable or it could all originate from the fall.
