In 1997 a man named John Robert Muir Layland, 71, was jailed for cruelty to 16 race horses and given a lifetime ban to prevent him from ever keeping horses and dogs again. I know one of the people who rescued these horses, and they were in 4ft worth of their own droppings.

There were 4 dead dogs and one dead horse that was rotting amongst the 16 that were barely alive.

This article from the Lancashire Telegraph has reported that he is now allowed to keep dogs and is looking to have the ban on keeping horses overturned. This man should never be allowed to look after another living animal after the way he treated the horses that were in his care. The article fails to mention that he lived in a caravan, with his girlfriend, next to the barn where the animals were kept.

Please read this article, and if you feel as angry as I do that this man could be allowed to have horses again, there is a place to write comments in at the bottom of the page.

The people who rescued these horses are not going to let this go without a fight... but with our support, it will make others realise that this is just not acceptable.

The horses became known as the Gisburn 16, and comprised of:
Evita
Mme Cholet (by Primitive Rising)
Tia Maria
Kite
Daytona
Cacherel
Bailey (by ID stallion Skippy)
Mouse
Taboo
The Hustler
Eros
Frazer
Fliss
Seb
Poppy

I can't believe he is attempting this.
He is very local to me. His girlfriend has around 30 greyhounds?????

Which he deals with, he was jailed because he was caught walking across a field with a dog so was deemed in charge of so got jailed.
This has so not got to happen.

The ban has not been implemented yet... with enough public support those who are fighting against it can have a bit more of a chance!

No I'm sorry, that's factually inaccurate. Public opinion has absolutely no influence over sentencing....
