OK, my lovely wife is 40 in August, fit and competent rider as am (was!) I.
New horse this year, her last died tragically between having children.

After 10 years of running the house and animals when I am away working, let alone also a veterinary nurse doing overnight duties at weekends, she is knackered and in need of a well earned break.
She would be draw-dropped dumbstruck if I packed her off one morning in August for a surprise week away to accommodation and a livery yard by the sea, gallops on the beach.
Horse can be a horse again, she can feel like a woman again. [I know it sounds a bit...reach for the bucket...perhaps, but please bear with me its well meaning].
The plan is we all join her, at the end of that first week for a family holiday week and the horse stays in livery while we have a family holiday.
Wife and horse travel back in the 4WD and trailer.
I travel back with kids in the little run around, we just need a helpful livery yard and some lucky last minute accommodation.
Any ideas? Or am I being totally unrealistic in my aspirations?

I just want to give her the unbelievable, as a thank you, and for the children to get that too.

Maybe I am being naive. I dont know, nothing ventured nothing gained. Is it possible to book this sort of holiday? We are in the Midlands - so can go to most places but obviously big sandy beaches and nice accommadation and friendly yard will have a very generous customer.....

wow what a lovely thought OP!

There is a place in Holme-Next-The-Sea in Norfolk called Home Farm where you can stay in a very nice b& b and have your horse stabled with turnout there too, and can ride on the beach each day.

It does get very booked up though and in the Summer the beach can be full of people and kids so might not be ideal for August.

good luck - such a lovely idea :)

I've stayed here too and it's lovely, I would definitely recommend. There is some good non-beach hacking too.

Another vote for field farm, lovely place with either caravan or cottage accommodation on site. Might struggle with getting in though.

guessing your probably south but if your north there is somewhere near whitby that does this

can I also say huge amount of man points for this !!! such a lovely idea :)

on facebook is "thirley banks cottages", and www.thirleybankscottages.co.uk my daughter and i have been twice ,loads of offroad forest riding, 8 mile moorland rides , they willprint you routes of bridleway rides, riding on filey beach in the evenings or b4 8am for the early risers ,riding on 8 miles of beach at fraisthorpe is allowed 24/7 ,even with 2 hours of country lane riding you will only see 3 or 4 cars. And they are lovely people as well.Stabling or just grazing . Near to Scarborough and Whitby loads for the kids to do,lots of good eateries near by .
