Please help us find a posh name for Rusty

He is going to be all legal this week, and needs a posh name urgently. His stable name is Rusty and I can't chane that. He is by Icon, so something with Icon or Idol in it would be good, rider is obsessed with Tolkein so likes any LotR horse names or similar would be cool.

I did think of Ferrugem, which is portugese for Rust, given that he is p/b Lusitano, but am struggling- any suggestions please, I would be really grateful....

These are some of the horse's names in lotr that I too hope some day to name a horse! Gorgeous horse you've got there :) I quite like Ferrugem too, sounds very LOTR

Ferro (means iron) is already taken - and really too famous to copy, as is Metall (also a relation of Ferro), but I really like the name you have already thought of - Ferragem; signals his heritage (Lusitano), his stable name (Rusty), and his colouring (metallic).

Many thanks for al the nice comments. We ran Ferrugem past his owner today, and he was ok with it. We also had suggestions from the farrier of Golden Glow, and from the owner of Jumping Jack Flash. Hmm, definitely need to push for Ferrugem. Shall decide later as he's being registered tomorrow.

Some people have really thought laterally & intelligently & then the owner comes up with "Jumping Jack Flash"????
