I have just got a gorgeous filly. I want her to live out for another year as I am a strong believer in horses being 'horses' whilst they are young. i have a horse on loan to keep her company in the field, but the loan agreement might not work out. So what should i do?
1) buy a 'Shetland' or similar as a companion
2) loan a horse I can ride whilst my filly is 'maturing'
3) buy a cob type 3.5/4 year old to bring on as a project over winter and sell in summer
I am fine for the summer months - so only a prob for the next 6mths.
Option 3 is my fave as i love bringing on allrounder youngsters - i.e. making them safe on the roads, enjoy a little cross country course and easy to handle, etc. but worried about the extra costs.
What would you do?????
any comments welcome?
P.S. really don't want to start stabling my filly and leaving her out on her own is not an option!!
