Please Help! Which trailer? Ifor510/505, Bateson or Richardson??

As an earlier post said the Wessex Olympian would do the trick. I have the smaller Clubman and it is a great trailer with good flooring (a reinforced plastic material), which gives less vibration and noise than aluminium. The suspension is very good too and I find the front door opening on the nearside is much better for off-loading if you have to do it on a roadside. IMO well worth considering.

I would personally only ever buy Ifor Williams, if you look at the comparisson in quality of build and structure and how well they hold their value. Batesons maybe lighter but you really need to think about quality and in terms of unladen weight I dont think there is much in it. I have recently bought a new HB511 and part ex'd my HB510 from universals who i bought the HB510 originally off of and the HB510 held its value so well I got more for it than I expected, so I can speak from experience that Ifor Williams do hold their value ever so well. If you need help from anyone call the people I go to as they are very helpful, they are in Sussex near Horsham. 01403 782862.

In my experience Batesons are very hard to get hold of 2nd hand and hold their value extremely well. Their build quality is excellent, IMO better and more consistent that IW! I have never heard of anyone having a problem with the build quality with a Bateson and a lot that have had problems with IW!!

Unladen weight of the trailer of a 506 is 920kg and gross weight is 2600kg and a 511 is 1000kg unladen and 2700kg gross. They are heavier than most other manufacturers but you have got to have some pretty heavy horses to be over. Also depends if you are travelling two big horses all the time as then it will matter more but if its is mainly just one horse, or one big and one small it usually still works out to be under. Any 4x4 pretty much will tow no problem but if you have a look at the owners hand book or manufactures website it will tell you the towing weight just to be sure.

The Ifor Williams 510 every time. FAb trailer, sturdy, hold their value and easy to do. Its a no brainer for me...

totally agree. no brainer, everyone always goes for the Ifor's and if not it is usually down to the price, and this is only because of the quality.
