I bought a 4yr old mare in jan 2010 and she was sold to me as broke but turned away. when it comes to riding her u can tack her up fine but she doesnt know what to do from there at all.
i have since had her vetted and found out she is 8 yrs old. i have also found out her sire is Flemensfirth a very famous national hunt race horse. her dam is Running Bit who i cant find anything about other than she was sold for 82,000 geneas 5 years ago at the Tattersalls auction in ireland and some of her half siblings have sold for 350,000 +. some how my mare has slipped the net and ended up with me. the girl i got her off lost her passport so i have ordered a duplicate, so till it arrives i cant find out who owned her..... i am in total shock about it all. i know she hasnt been used for racing or broodmare as weatherbys told me that themselves, and even they r puzzled how ive ended up owning such a horse. she has never been reported stolen either.
i would never sell her but would love to know how much shes worth.
would love to hear others views on this .........

Your filly was Not Sold at 550Eur as a foal at Tatts Dec Sales in 2002, she was entered and withdrawn from a Sale in 2005 and never raced. Her half siblings have similar sales records so I'm afraid amymay is correct, no material value whatsoever. Enjoy getting to know her and have many years of giving her a useful life.

Op`s mare is a 4 year old meaning she wouldnt have been born in 2002 or 2005????

OP also said that she has since found out that the mare is 8 and not 4.

I also would agree that she would probably not be worth a lot. An unestablished 8 yr old tb....

ah ha that would be me skipping through :D.... explains why i found nothing lol
i agree with not being worth a lot, my mares got good breeding coming from a long line of racing, she`s not worth much...i paid £900 for her!

£800 max. Sorry :(

Most TB's out there have fantastic 'racing' breeding who have sold for £££££'s....but it's talant that brings in the money not solely names on paper.
No racing career, not schooled or broken properly....it's just another horse sadly.....

Can I ask how you have come to buy her without a passport?

I didn't think you were 'allowed' to pass on horses without their documents now?

You can buy a horse without a passport - but are not allowed to sell one without a passport. Go figure.........:o

Alot of tb's seem to lose their passports somewhere along the line and alot of them are probably worth more sold as a horse not as a tb which might have something to do with it. Seems a shame especially with well bred mares but it happens.

Ditto this, it is in black and white on Racing Post so not worth any more than meat money. I would be very wary of anything NH bred that has not been backed and named by 6 years old.
