please help

You know what will happen if you go ahead with even letting them use your Bronte at the yard where she lives. As soon as your back is turned they will be doing things with her that you have expressly asked them not to, either because they've been told it will be fine, or because their instructor knows best.
"Strap some on" missus, and tell them no, and not compromises, tomorrow. Just tell them she's not suitable and you don't want to lend her to anybody, not even for the odd hack or lesson.
Grrr....

Those videos are so lovely. You have a very special mare there. As per others - def don't let her go within 50 miles of this child and her seemingly clueless mother. Sorry I know she is a friend and all but she sounds like a nightmare to deal with

This woman sounds like she isnt prepared to listen to anything you have to say or your rules. God forbid she did take your mare and something happened - go with your gut and dont send her off. There are more symathetic homes/loaners out there who would appreciate your mare and what she is capable of.

No, no, no do not let them take your horse to camp! The pony club is brilliant and camp is fantastic for kids & ponies alike, but they always come home exhausted, it is really hard work and although the instructors of course know what they are doing, I can't imagine any child taking a horse to camp and then not jumping it.

^^^^^^ pretty much this.
plus, she seemed pretty quick to point out that she is paying for camp, well let her go and pay for her own pony to take there.
Bronte is too precious to you, that is so obvious, also she deserves the best of treatment and I don't think she will get it from this pushy mom.
She is stunning btw.

Immoralorchid, thank you so much for indulging me. I thoroughly enjoyed those vids from start to finish. I can't believe it's the same pony as at the beginning of them. What a physical transformation! What a long way you've obviously come, you and your reserve champ of champions! I loved the slow-mo of the ridden work particularly - it was lovely to see her movement. She is a credit to you, and it's no wonder that you adore her, and that another mum would like to snatch her to try and get some rosettes!

Hope you continue to enjoy eachother, and that you do find the right person to do some light work/to learn to ride with her if that's what you both want and need 80)

She's stunning! :)
I agree with everyone else I'm afraid... I think you're incredibly polite though, as I think I would actually have laughed in her face (with outrage) when she openly told me she wouldn't do what I'd asked, then I'd have told her to take a long walk off a short pier.

That mare looks fabulous, but she's been through a lot. She deserves better than someone who will put money and ribbons before her happiness.

AAARGH NO!

speaking from personal experience, i had a lovely elderly arab suitable only as a light hack. I loaned him, against my better judgement really tbh, to a 13yr old. I had specified in the ad that he was only suitable for light hacking and was told that was all they wanted, visited their yard etc.
ended up getting a phone call saying horse had gone lame strangely a hindeg where prev problem had been front leg, they hadnt kept up insurance and didnt want to progress past initial vets visit so I picked him up.
While helping me load him, daughter told me how ell he had been jumping in their jumping lessons, until he suddenly started refusing-hm wonder why
lesson learnt

Oh, please come back and tell us you've told this woman to get lost...

bronte has given me the best years of her life given, after what happened to her i couldnt ask for more from her. as for another person to ride and school her i already had one without realising my brillient mum (love you mum). she is officially from today (hence my excuse) semi retired being a happy hacker/ low level show and dressage pony for my mum and a brood mare to hopefully god willing give me a new project to play with. thank you everyone for replying it has really touched my heart

much love to all of you

Just caught up with this thread. So glad that you have sorted this out. You have a very beautiful mare. I hope that she passes on her looks and temperament to any foal she has.

Your little horse sounds very precious to you, and also quit probably up to the amount of work she'll be expected to do at camp.

If she were mine she wouldn't be going anywhere.
