I’m a 15 year old, who is wanting to get a full loan. Everything is good apart from the fact that my mum and dad aren’t horsey, and really don’t like horses! Money isn’t an issue the only issue is the transport to and from wherever the horse is kept or where I chose to keep it. I live in a village in the countryside and there is only one bus that leaves the village is every hour . I don’t live in the middle of no where and there’s shops but my mum doesn’t want to take me the the stable as I can’t drive yet. Any one have any ideas to how I could get there I don’t think mornings would be a problem as I can get dropped on my dad’s way to work but I don’t know how I would get home? I’m also online schooled so time isn’t really a problem either. Any ways I could convince my mum it would work?? Thank you!!

They are only a 5 minute drive and I would walk if I could but it’s so dangerous as there’s no where to walk and cars go stupidly fast. I never thought of biking, thanks for the help!! That might actually work!

My mum was horsey but no one wanted to get up on a weekend to take me to the stables before 9 so I always biked, and then did so every day in the holidays and stayed all day. Pre everyone having mobiles so used to borrow the landline to do '3 rings' to home so they knew I arrived. it was about 5 miles each way and I did it for years, I was quite fit in those days!

If it's only a 5 minute drive that would seem the easiest solution if your parents are ok with it. Helmets and hi vis always though :).

Well roads can be dangerous for cyclists too, so lots of protective gear. I used to put the saddle on the front handlebars and cycle up and down to my ponies for years and years. Then later I used to cycle to work too, and avoided the queues of traffic in the morning and it kept me fit for riding.

You are home schooled. My daughter was too. Research BHS stages, pony club efficiency tests and YELA. These carry UCAS points and are an excellent all round education. Personally I would highly recommend YELA as it offers all the volunteering and leadership opportunities of DoE does but without the issues with schools and insurance. Home schooling is - I'm afraid -in no small part about basically being a taxi service between activities. In school kids walk from classroom to classroom. At home - parents drive!

That said you need to learn to be independent. Cycle where you reasonably can. Use public transport if it is available in your area. My personal advice as a home school mum to a homeschooler is not uber. For me the fact none are DBS etc cleared - I would not put my daughter in that position.

ETA - although your forum name is fairly common and you have not - quite correctly - indicated where you live it might be worth closing this account and re-starting with something that is not your name. Have a look at the Barclaycard "life skills" course on line to help you stay safe.
