Please may I have some opinions on this?

Hat off to you JFTD....you stuck really well. Not easy jumping a pony with shorter legs..... My hipo jumps like a stag too but his owner enjoys to be nearer the ground...2ft my limit!

I find my motivation for clinging on is high - it hurts less than hitting the deck :D

Jftd ... love the 'ufcking hell, you legend' comment at the end, really made me smile! X

Shoud possibly have checked the soundtrack before posting :o

Back to the OP and I've watched again and can't see a single pulling incident. Mental  I do like the gear changes in the playback speed though :)

Personally I thought it was a bit tacky, you sat on a school master and yanked it in the mouth a lot :(
Just my opinion :)

Have you had one over the eight and acquired an eye infection at the same time?!

Yanked in the mouth?!!

I don't see any yanking in the mouth there at all. Looks like a fine rider to me.

Watched the vid and didnt see any socking in the teeth, saw a couple of oh crap moments :o where the rider slipped the reins which was appropriate action and prevented a sock in the gob, nice job whoever the rider is, especially on an ex racer

Lolo- make all of your clips full screen :) I agree with the others about the audio, and perhaps use all of the colourings on SV to your advantage too? Other than that, it's really nice :)

Lolo wont crit the vid cos I can't even post one! Love the story of Al and Regs's journey though.

As for the other total *@*@*@*@* (one reason why I dont want to learn how to post) tell Al that there are not many people who I would invite to ride my horses, but she would be welcome to any time:)

Lovely vid. please tell your sister she would outride me into next year. What a lovely rider and a fantastic achievement.
I wouldn't hesitate in putting her on my TB

JFTD - I am so happy to see Fergs. You two always make me smile. He sure does look traumatised at all the mouth socking you have subjected him to eh?
What a badly abused pony he is. ;)

:D:D

I thought it rather nice. I kept watching for a really bad rider who smacked her horse in the mouth and did not see it.

You know what. To be really really fit and not be wobbly now and again you need to ride at least 5 a day and be competing 3 or 4 at the weekends. Does anyone not get that? I despair at my body nowadays as for one I'm older and two I don't ride at least 5 horses a day at a certain level. I do ride that many bit quite a few greenies too. And it's all very different. No matter how good a rider you are fitness for riding something like eventing is very different. And mean what do people think when they watch these vids? What that we'll be treated to a Pippa Funnel type ride? Or a masterful John Whitaker ride? What the heck?

I know one thing. Won't be posting any vids of me and Abba because I know I will suck!

How funny, I was about to say the same thing. I currently have a truly horrendous video of me jumping in C&T and I got told off for being unfit by the instructor. I said the exact same, I need to ride at least three more a day. When I was riding five at work I totally took for granted how fit I was. If Reg is being yobbed in the gob definitely don't go and watch my video :o

Al looks fab as always and I have no sound so I can't hear :( How good is your camera? Sometimes it looks a bit grainy? Maybe the next thing you should ask for is a lovely HD camera ;)

Why can't people keep there Opinion to themselves? :D

Well, it's a forum and so spouting forth opinions is kinda the point. And sometimes, opinions are put forward that are different than our own! That said and for what it's worth, I thought the jockey in the OP did a cracking job. I didn't see any yanking or removal of back teeth! Just good solid gutsy xc riding.

And JFTD, your video made me literally LOL! "Can we do it? Yes we can!". Legend!

Edited to add, what a cracking pony. So honest and kind. My YouTube connection was slow, so the video kept stopping and starting and on every single freeze frame, your position was perfect. Very very nice riding.

How on earth did you think that horse was a schoolmaster? it's obviously an exracer who has been reschooled. And where is the yanking? I saw a rider competant enough to slip the reins when needed. And I defy anyone to do a round of cross country and not slightly sock at some stages on a dodgy stride. It's really easy to sit and criticise, post up a video of your riding and put us to shame so!

If you really want a video crit, in our film course they taught us a few simple things. i agree with the comment about removing the cheesy quote, sometimes it works, but in this case it doesn't, it's tool long and distracting. Also I'd imagine its been a very eventful training experience for you and the video doesn't do that enough justice. There's a great video (can't find link now, but it's been on here!) where a girl has a difficult unrideable horse, ends up doing showing, and then can ride again. That really gets across the challenges she faced. I know its dramatic video footage anyways, but the format of the video works well, you can really see her journey. Sometimes whats obvious to you doesn't translate across to strangers. so you need to storyboard or plot out the video better or have text screen explaining why moments are good/bad. I have an exracer myself so I completely appreciate the improvements you made!

Also check out your compression settings. Video is extremely pixellated, whats your original footage like? Is something going haywire when you are compressing for upload?

Did you mean this video?

Thanks guys for all the opinions on the video- I will be back with another one once I've got more footage :D Hopefully with less controversy!

Well absolutely. But in this case, the subject for opinions to be offered on was the video editing.

I made this video, it's my second ever attempt with this software... Think I'm improving a bit! What do you guys think of it/ how can I improve?

For someone to start giving uninvited 'opinions' on the rider shown in the video, who has not even posted on this thread, was frankly a little rude.
