Ok

Posted a few weeks back (probably 3) about Daisy, Mum's mare, about the repetitive colic she's been having.

So this morning turned her out and she was hunky dory but to cut a long story short, when I got z in about 1245 she was definitely not ok. Rang vet etc and when doing her rectal (which, bless her, she is the best patient) we may have found a cancerous lump.

I'm not sure why I need to vent this on here but I need to get it out. My mum's left for a skiing holiday this morning and has only just got out of a dark place so the last thing I can do is tell her about this horse. (and I'm not, untill she's scanned and I know more)

So please, some love, feeling lonely and rather glum for my poor girl, she's truly an awesome horse.

Also, to make matters worse, I had got the Strongid P this morning to do the tape worm (as we previously thought that was the problem after a worm count) and sods law couldn't give it to her and vet has since given her a different wormer which means I have 9 sachets (£50 quids worth) of bloody Strongid P and no horses to use it on

just been back to tack shop and I can't refund it or anything so I now am a bit p-$$ed off and not sure what to do with it.

Hope everyone else is ok and thanks for reading my ramblings

Poor you - it always happens at the worst time doesn't it?? Loads of love, vibes and hugs winging your way over to you and Daisy. Hope you get some good news from the scan ...

I went in and they said as it's an "administered drug" they wouldn't even though I bought it that morning...

grrr

I didn't know if it was illegal to advertise it somewhere? I'm thinking nfed.co.uk but don't want to do it if I'm breaking some law!

Oh no - that's so worrying for you and poor Daisy, virtual Hug winging it's way to you. I hope it's not as bad as you fear

Re the wormer - doesn't it normally have a fairly long use-by date? Not ideal from a financial perspective, but it should keep until the autumn tape worm time?

I really feel for you. I have a 21yr old mare I love dearly and am dreading the day when she has any ailments. Fingers crossed its not cancerous and lots of vibes.

she's not event hat old, she's 12.

I'm sorry, thank you for all your comments but after keeping it in all day I've just totally lost it, going to go up and check her now but can't bear seeing any of my friends who have been great, just don't know how I am going to break this to my mum.

Thank you. Feel a bit better but checked her after last post and she totally (still) wasn't herself (she was perkier earlier) so panicking a little but going to check her at 9 again and if she's eaten or drunk something I'll be happy (not pooed since 1245)

Hey Julie, its Mellissa with Kevin. Oh poor old Daisy bless her. I know how you feel, Una (Kev's sister) is five months pregnant and came down with colic yesterday.

Very weird and worrying isn't it.

Love you to all

What a worry hun, I hope it's something that can be easily fixed. Big hugs to you at this stressful time.

My first mare had recurrent colic and it turned out she had a grapefruit sized growth on the mesentery sac which holds the bowels. They operated and she made a full recovery. Luckily it wasn't malignant and she came back into full work. It was such a relief to see the end of the colic epsiodes. I hope it works out this well for Daisy xx

Realistically, though I'm glad for your mare MG, it probably won't be operated on with Daisy as she's got sarcroids which are so horrible they prevent her from being ridden so likely outcome is her being pts

Thanks mel, missed u!

Just checked her again and she's out flat...urgh. Checking her again in about an hour...it's very cold out there!

Big hugs coming your way...

I really hope that once you get the scan sorted its just a lump and isn't anything too serious.

Fingers crossed x
