I have been asked by a very nice French company who save racehorses from slaughter and re train them and sell them on, if I can give them any names of ex-racehorses in England who have been very sucessful in their new field. They would like to use these names to show people in France that racehorses can do another job.

If anyone can think of some names that would be recognisable in Europe I would be very grateful.:)
 
Beef or Salmon (Ireland) is competing successfully at dressage and Moscow Flyer is an ambassador for the Irish Horse Welfare Trust and he travels to shows etc
 
Have a look on the RoR website, they used to have success stories on there. Sometimes the commentator at Badminton mentions if a horse is an ex-racehorse, there's usually one or two.
 
War of Attrition won the show class at the RDS last year. If you go to the Dublin Horse Show Website you will be able to see all the horses that were in it and where they finished in the line up. Brave Inca is a super show horse as is Hardy Eustace
 
I look after Earthmover who has gone on to be an incredible team chaser with ROR Lycetts A Class Act.

Also known as Dennis.... such a good name!
 
Java Tiger the very famous TB stallion was an ex-racer. He was the leading British sire for dressage horses and the leading TB site for dressage horses. He also sired top event horses :)

Moonfleet Andrew Hoys top 4* eventer was also an ex-racers.

Im pretty sure there are tons more :)
 
There is a stunning Show Hack, not sure if he is still on the circuit or not, called Gosh. He raced but under a different name and won Show Hack classes up and down the country. Not sure if he ever won at HOYS but he was most certainly placed there a fair few times. Same with a new Show Hack out called Night Prayers. Goes to and gets placed at HOYS and these Show Hacks have to be better schooled, better mannered and generally much much nicer horses to ride than any other horse on the planet.

It can be done!
