please pay attetion!

all i wanted to do is get a lot of horse lovers together to sign a petion send it to the preminster to see if we can help stop horse abuse and that awful long distance travelling that was all. but i am not going to get help from here so there is no point in the arguments. sorry i bothered trying to help these horses!X

Ok well you didnt say that in your OP. As before I suggest you join the 'Make a Noise' campaign as that will probably do more than you starting your own petition.
 
i know my spelling is crap but that is not the point i thought that could be over looked due to the post seriousness! coffee bean you are probally right i just thought it was worth a shoT!
 
i posted b4 about this vid if its the one about stillmans in taunton and got loads of abuse back from people missing the point of i had no complaint of the horses that had been shot cleanly and without stress i was barking on about the pregnant mare and the horse left on the yard by some b-----d who had just dumped her there unable to stand and in a lot of stress id like to find out who they were n do the same to them sorry ranting n dont no if its the same vid!
 
Babybells; if you really are that bothered about trying to save these horses, whichever horses these are that you are talking about ... then do some research! Then you will see that there are MANY petitions going in MANY countries...and all you then have to do is sign them

OK stop taking the piss out of her....she has her heart in the right place but not all the information.

Babybells....please go to the WHW site and sign the campaign against live export. Rather than dilute the impact we need to concentrate our efforts in one place and WHW "Make a noise campaign" is the place to do it
 
As far as I recall about that incident; the horse could NOT be euthanized as there was not a knackerman there or a vet. If memory serves me right the horse had to wait a few minutes before they could arrange to have someone freed up to come and deal with the horse. Hardly the abattoirs fault if some member of the public dumps the horse on them unexpectedly!
 
Babybells, as people are trying to tell you, the ILPH/WHW already have a petition and their "Make a Noise " campaign. There is copy of the petition in this weeks H & H which you can cut out and copy and get as many signatures as you can. You are preaching to the converted here.
 
i have signed that years ago i just thought i could get some people together to sign another one and send that off like i have been avised by my local council! sorry if i have caused an argument i just thought it was worth a try i am sorry for mentioning anything!
 
I'm sorry babybells, but your posts were very unclear. Many small petitions have less impact than one LARGE petition so, as others have suggested, help WHW with their campaign, the biggest and best known there is.

Please dont bother...Do you think the horses/ponys will live a long happy life in lovely fields if its stopped, if so take a reality pill and look at whats happened in the USA since it was banned

For goodness sake do you think these slaughtermen just walk round touting guns 24/7?? They obviously needed to get the gun out, maybe load it, do the relevant safety checks even?
Then they have to check any paperwork that comes with the horse - they aren't just trigger happy hicks - these are professionals who have a job to do, just like you or I.
And as for someone dumping it there... this person was probably a paid haulier - you tell me at the end of his shift, he's meant to cuddle a horse in the middle of a yard, lamenting on the awful fate of said horse?...

You know, if you come into this thread on page 1 and read quickly to page 3 it really sounds very bitchy....Surely if someone is, rightly or wrongly, bothered about something enough to express their concerns on this forum and draw attention to something that matters to them and which they feel may be of interest to others, then perhaps a little more courtesy, tolerance etc could be called for?

Babybells I haven't seen the video (I doubt I could stomach it) but I appreciate your concern and your desire to do something about it. It would seem that there are established channels you can go down to make yourself heard and these should be explored but please never ever feel that just because someone else 'got there first' there is nothing further that you as an individual can do. These things are so personal; if it matters then it matters.

Sorry but as far as I saw; there was a thread with a heading "please pay attetion" which then rabbited on about some video on youtube; apologies but there are thousands and thousand of videos on slaughter on youtube. There was no reference to which country this slaughter was going on in ... actually there really wasn't anything to identify the cause of this posters distress. One petition was mentioned by another member, however there are lots and lots of petitions going on around the world. From what I read, almost everyone who replied to this thread was clearly far more aware than the actual poster, hence not sure that it is us who should pay attention!

babybells, as has been suggested, look into the WHW 'Make a Noise' campaign. There are many things you could do to support this. For instance, join WHW, fundraise to support their campaign, to name just a couple. I think putting your energy into supporting the established campaign against live export for slaughter would be more productive than a separate petition.

If the OP is distressed about travel to slaughter I can understand her concern. If, however, it is slaughter in general she is worried about then I suggest that she think about the alternative, I have yet to think of another way of dealing with unwanted/sick etc. horses, other than the death of the horse. The manner of that death should be as stress free as possible, as is the case with any large animal, this is how slaughterhouses work, calmly, professionally and with humanity.
