There was no reference to which country this slaughter was going on in ... actually there really wasn't anything to identify the cause of this posters distress. One petition was mentioned by another member, however there are lots and lots of petitions going on around the world. From what I read, almost everyone who replied to this thread was clearly far more aware than the actual poster, hence not sure that it is us who should pay attention!

First post : i was on you tube last night and come across this very distressing can we do anything to help like to start a petion to try and stop this crulety happening! go to you tube type in horse slaughter .... stop it! watch it and tell me this is not right!xx very up setting!

Second : what do you mean by this? i am being serious i would like to do some thing to maybe help horses go through this terrible horror!

Third : what the hell are you lot on about? i was trying to maybe get a petion together to try and stop horses going through pain and abuse i dont know why i bothered if you lot are like this!

Fourth : i would not like them to go to slaughter full stop that is the whole point!

Fifth : i think you are getting me all wrong, i know slaughter has to happen i can not just understand why they need to go through all the abuse travelling before hand. why carnt they be shoot before the traveling they are going to die any way so but them for that?

Sixth : all i wanted to do is get a lot of horse lovers together to sign a petion send it to the preminster to see if we can help stop horse abuse and that awful long distance travelling that was all. but i am not going to get help from here so there is no point in the arguments. sorry i bothered trying to help these horses!X

Seven : i know my spelling is crap but that is not the point i thought that could be over looked due to the post seriousness! coffee bean you are probally right i just thought it was worth a shoT!

Eight : i have signed that years ago i just thought i could get some people together to sign another one and send that off like i have been avised by my local council! sorry if i have caused an argument i just thought it was worth a try i am sorry for mentioning anything!


Just to mention a few things, one minute you're against all slaughter, then you know it has to happen. Then it's not about the slaughter without you only want to stop the awful long distance travelling. In your sixth post you say "but i am not going to get help from here", excuse me already the second reply to your post mentioned "What like the highly publicised "Make a noise" campaign?"" Still you wait until your eight post to finally say "I have signed that years ago" ?


Sorry Babybells, but you're not getting any signatures to your petitions if you can't make people understand what it's against OR if you swear at and upset the ones you want to agree with you.

No, my post was not aimed at you, or indeed at anyone in particular or I would have said so in my post. All I was saying that if you read the whole thread it really did come across as rather unsupportive of someone who was clearly upset over something and was trying to draw attention to it. I often feel that people on here are shot down in flames by others rather unfairly whilst others get phenomenal support. Perhaps I clicked on the wrong reply button and it appeared as if I was having a go directly at you, I wasn't, so apologies for any offence caused, it wasn't my intention.
 
thanks to a couple of people who under stand where i am coming from yes i know slaughter has to happen i can not just understand why they have to go through so much horror and pain before they get the bullet thats what my point ! some one mentioned about taking me to a slaughter house and holding my hand no thanks i would be sick!

So are you offering to take on every dangerous, lame or old horse who the owner prefers to send to slaughter rather than spend a fortune keeping?

What do you think happens to these horses if they aren't PTS or slaughtered? Do you honestly believe people with endless pots of cash come along and adopt them, to live out their days painfree in a field? Get real. It is far more responsible to PTS something that can't be sold on and have a useful life than for it to be passed around; at least with the former, it has a certain future.

And what do you actually think happens in a slaughter house - that it is staffed by people who delight in making the animals suffer? Of course not. I presume you don't eat meat because the same thing happens to cattle, sheep and pigs when they are slaughtered for meat....
 
BabyBells obviously was shocked at what she saw on you tube. Sometimes people act upon what their heart feels without researching the horrible subject in the cold light of day. Her heart is in the right place. Be kind to her and let her learn about the reality of this subject in a caring environment. Not attack her for being a little naive.
