please please help me

thanks for reply, the land cannot be sold as it was a gift to our village from yrs gone buy by gentry, as to the horses thay are in great condition and there is plenty of grass but not enough to mow. as for the stingers probably take up 5 percent of the land, but the horses have never been put on this part to graze in the ten yrs ive been there, regards

confused, the horses have not been on the part with the stinging nettles for ten years? then there must be grass to mow?

I do know that gardeners are encouraged these days to leave aside a patch for nettles as they are am environmentally important plant. So I'd be surprised if there were grounds for objecting to them unless on a footpath etc. I'm no expert though.

Is there any ragwort on the land?

The first thing for the OP to do is arrange a meeting with a member of the council to jointly visit the land and discuss what the issue is. They've apparently mentioned weeds so it seems to be up for negotiation. If I wanted someone off land I was managing, I wouldn't state a reason except my right to apply the eviction as anything else leads to arguments and wasted time.

It is very easy to become complacent over a long period and fail to see things that upset and annoy others. If the OP truly wants the arrangement to continue, she needs to listen and not argue. What others do over the fence and whether the road is gritted or not has nothing to do with the problem and she would be wise to keep to the reason for the threatened eviction and how she can put things right. She needs to do what they want, not what she thinks they should have! It's their ball and they can state what rules they play the game by.

Great post and exactly what OP needs to do.
