There was a post on here last week about a horse getting his head stuck under the breast bar and the trailer owner didn't have an Allen key to undo the bolts on the out side of the trailer to release the breast bar. I have spoken to Ifor Williams and they are sending me a free Allen key, any one else who does not have an Allen key should may be give them also a call to get one for free, and to keep it in the trailer.

I did try to buy one, but they never had the size, so called Ifor Williams and no probs to send one out for free

Ooh, I missed that post, so pardon my ignorance but why wasn't the breast bar just unclipped? Why would you need an Allen key?

Right, got you.
My horse did this but he snapped the breast bar pins thankfully. Managed to do little damage to his withers in the process, he'd have panicked like stink if he was stuck!!!

Mine hasn´t got an allen key arrangement - it´s just a normal coach bolt on the outside of the trailer.

My youngster went under the breech bar the other day. She ended up bending the bar in half but was momentarily wedged with the bar over her middle back. And there was nothing I could do about it.

The pin had bent up inside the bar and she was thrashing so much I couldn´t get near. I´m going down the B&Q to see if I can replace the coach bolts with wing nuts or something that will be looser to undo should this happen again. In the meantime I´ve got a spanner which´ll undo the nuts.

the new breech bar I´ve bought off a dealer looks homemade and doesn´t fit properly so I´m a bit peeved about that too.
