As above! I'm looking for a dressage saddle to fit my h/w short backed traditional cob! I currently have a 16.5" wide GFS GP that is lovely & comfy & fits him well but would love another that will accommodate his big shoulders & perhaps 'free up' his movement. ( And actually help me keep a better position whilst schooling!!) Thanks, Maoam Pinballs for anyone interested!! :)

I have a heavy trad cob mare. I bought a lavinia Mitchell vsd in April this year. It is the best saddle me or my mare have had. They have u shaped trees and sit further back than a traditional treed saddle. It leaves my mares massive shoulders totally free and I can sit in a really close contact classical position. Google the Lavinia Mitchell web site as they do make pure message saddles as well.

Thanks everyone, I'll have a look on saddle exchange website! Can I assume for 'trying on' purposes that I'll still need the same width as my GP?!! (I will have a saddler out to fit correctly) :)

A Heather Moffett Vogue! Tis what Omar Rabia rides his mare in (the author of cobs can)

I've just got a 2nd hand Vogue for my short backed HW cob - it's lovely! Puts me in a proper shoulder, hip, heel alignment, the memory foam seat is super comfortable, but best of all my horse is able to move so much better as his shoulders seem to be freer.

They can be hard to find as people hang on to them (as they are not treed, so fit a variety of horse shapes), but managed to pick this one up for about £500 on Ebay.
