Who else is really obsessive about there horses beds?

I work with horses and I know I have to stay to yards standards whilst mucking out as work, but at home

I have 2 girls on shavings, they are absolutely spotless, squared banks, swept perfectly, no odd poo or hay bits and heaven forbid its wonky!!

I swept the top of my girls beds this morning because they weren't level enough.....am i mad??

I dont let any one else do my beds!!! If they do I have to not look as i will fiddle!!
I have a fab new sharer who i taught to muck out and she knows how fussy I am, her beds are fab but i would still faff if I didn't stop myself!!

My OH will muck out but not put beds down as he knows what I'm like!!!

Yes I think you are but have to say that my beds are immaculate as well. No poo or hay and good banks but don't go as far as sweeping the top!

I was like that when I had just one at Uni - was too poor to go out so horse, bed, tack were in the best condition of their lives!
If I have time I am ludicrously anal about how rugs are folded, beds are done etc. even down to which way the buckets face! If I didn't work I could fill my time no problem. If I'm under pressure time wise though I'm not so bad that I HAVE to do it, I'll ride and let that stuff slide. (My house by the way is a tip - I never make my own bed!)

Yep I am very picky over his bed, banks have to be even hight square and perfect, bed has to be swept to a straight line etc.
A little part of me dies every time I arrive in the morning to find it trashed

My horses are now on full livery, so I have to keep my mouth shut about their beds which are not nearly as perfect as they would be if I did them. (but are perfectly good beds!) When I did them myself they had to be immaculate, even banks and completely level surfaces..... My hubbie used to be speechless when he saw me muck out as our house didn't get a fraction of the time spent on it!!!

Yep, There are a lot of us I think!

I go over the top of my straw bed with the fork getting it as even as possible. Then I start at the back (can't leave footprints!) and work my way forward giving it a final flattening off with the back of my broom!

Well as for the banks...perfect of course!

Yep, exactly the same and I get furious with my stepdaughter if she does not do the neddies beds properly. Sometimes I think she is just blind when she can't see that the bed, banks and front are not level!

And heaven forbid if she doesn't get into the corners to sweep!!

God I am such a wicked stepmother!!!

I think most people are like this with their beds; I am, however these days my guys are all turned out 24/7 now and no I don't miss it.

nope not at all! sorry! i just dont get it when a horse is only going to poo on it?!!!!!!!!!

if you ever want to rescue my horse who regulary has a shavings bed higher on one side with wonkey dipped banks then let me know! Just dont have the time every day to prefect - have own business and toddler are too demanding!

It kills me that my boss has made a rule recently saying that banks are not to be squared off... it looks SO much neater! And yes I do run a broom across the top of the beds, lightly - it gets rid of all those unsightly shavings fork lines (we use Aquamax/wood pellet bedding). My horse is mostly turned out but they came in last night due to the foul weather. She is on shavings and I HATE mucking out her bed as I can never get it perfect enough (I have to semi-deep litter otherwise I'd be taking it all out every morning, I hate leaving muck in there!)
In the interests of my health and sanity I've tried to become a bit more relaxed about it, but it just doesn't work - it has to be perfect or I can't rest!

Yes I'm that bad! I work at the yard on weekends and make sure all the beds are perfect! Level banks, straight line etc! Then I put Genie in her stable and she INSTANTLY wrecks it, sometimes go so far as to dig one of the banks out. That's when I cry! ;-)

I'm so glad I'm not the only one!!! And some of you sound worse than me!! I did go for a job with a lady to turn out her horses, but she didn't even sweep!! I would have gone insane!! LOL

I do really enjoy mucking out, and my girls are really tidy (generally) so they make life easier for me! I'm always sweeping too, but my beds are my pride and joy, my car on the other hand.......
