Please Tell Me Everything You Know About Golden Retrievers...

Can be nice dogs..BUT often aggressive ,possessive..and are usually blessed with owners incapable of dealing with it.
It depends on who has to clean the house really, there will be a monumental amount of balls of "tumbleweed" retriever hairs EVERYWHERE. I could`nt bear it myself, but do ask and warn the house cleaner. One owner I met asked me to do a complete clip off ,so desparate had they become over the continuous moulting.

Has two when I was still at home - both beautiful, friendly (even with tiny people), playful, loyal dogs who could moult for england - personally have never known one with a bad temperament (but we are going back a few years)

I'd have one tomorrow :)

I have an 8 year old Golden Retriever (GR) boy. He is the softest thing ever with people, bitches, and is terrified of the cat. He is, however, quite territorial and will bark at the neighbours and will try and hump other male dogs (particularly black labs that look like the next door neighbours dog..).

He is very easy to train and is very quiet around the house. His recall is dependent on what is around him (great if he's bored, non-existent if there is something more exciting..). He is amazingly loyal and loving - he does the classic GR thing of sitting at his owners feet and staring up adoringly :-)

The big problem we have had with him health wise have been with skin tumours. He gets one that needs to be removed on average every 6 months. He had to have chemotherapy and have his tail removed for one of them. He had his latest op last week and has an approx 1ft scar on his side (has to be big to get the margins). I am thinking of getting another dog in a few months time and it is this that puts me off getting another GR.
