Not horses, but the last time I used a tow float in Opem Water Swimming was when I got out and realised I had been dragging a flaccid plastic sack round with me.

Initially, I thought it must have a leak and had deflated. However, someone had taken photos of me setting off and it turns out, I simply never blew it up!

Not horses but similar brain fog. Spent 10 hours behind the wheel of a bus. Jumped into Land River to go home. Went to undo seatbelt at home - to discover I had never put it on. In my defence, the two buses I had been driving don’t have seatbelts, and the driving position in a 110 is very similar to a bus.

Hangs head in shame (company safety trainer!)

I led a horse in, tied him to the wall, rode the other horse (in view of him) and it was put umtil I went to ride him I realised I’d put his head collar on and tied the rope to the wall but never attached The two! He’d stood there for an hour

I’ve got To the arena sometimes and realised I forgot my hat and had to drag poor pony back to the yard

I've done what BB has done as well...I started on a hack and someone asked where my hat was...my brain was so busy with other things that I had completely forgotten!! It was strange because that is definitely something that just feels "entirely wrong"
It does doesnt it! I mean generally I trust my horse but dont trust any car drivers lol

Omg yes....it was just so strange that it didn't even register as I've only ridden without a helmet once before and it felt like all sorts of wrong. I did purposely get on from the wrong side the other day and that felt very, very, very strange. I now know what it feels like for newbie riders!! ?

I've got on with just a woolly hat a fair few times. Most memorable was when I asked a new livery if she wouldn't mind just glancing over to the arena every now and then because I was getting back on the Appy after time off. I was up and walking away when she came over and apologised for sticking her nose in but said she'd feel a lot more comfortable if I had a helmet on.

I was horrified - I think I'd even got my body protector on!!

Appy had her halo polished thankfully and just rolled her eyes at me

I’m blaming fibromyalgia and peri menopause for brain fog…..anyone else completed a whole ride with their glove stuck on top of their hat?!? ? Or other similarly daft antics that will stop me feeling like such an idiot????
Picture for evidence in my Facebook post below, it wouldn’t upload here:

That is fantastic ? I am sorry not to be more sympathetic but that really did make me laugh. Thank goodness it’s not just me who does these sorts of things!

I managed to ride with split jods and bright pink knickers. I had a longish jacket on but every time I leant forward or jumped anything everyone else must have got the shock of their lives. I only noticed when I got off the horse at the yard and someone told me.

Once I rode out and only realised half way around that I’d crossed my reins under horse’s neck. He neck reins so I hadn’t realised.

But probably even worse, another time about a mile down the road I realised that the bit wasn’t even in his mouth! He wears a Micklem bridle and I had done up the nose band but the bit was under his chin ?

I’ve done the hat thing more times than I can count, and not even had the excuse of already wearing a woolly hat or baseball cap .

I’ve also variously forgotten: to change out of trainers into riding boots, to put stirrup leathers back on the saddle after cleaning them, do up various parts of the bridle, actually attach headcollar and lead rope etc etc. My poor mare just humours me, she must feel like she’s doing her bit to look after the village idiot :p.
