I've yet to see one with a rug on but they do seem to thrive!! If you do want some, buy rather than rehome as then you are in charge.

Didn't realise you were in Ireland :rolleyes3::rolleyes3:
Sorry I wasn't being sarky!!!!! I was meaning in Ireland they are in muddy fields and with no rugs!I thought you were generalizing, I am not in Ireland no need to be sarky.
Now I know why you're not allowed them as companions-they've killed yours :wink3::wink3::wink3:
I've had a horse who tried to kill sheep. My current two are, I think, about as safe as any two are likely to be, I've got plenty of space, I'll build them a shelter that only they can get in, and I think we'll be ok. I going to see them tomorrow, I think. Names please, OH wants Cheese and Biscuit!
Because you will fall in love with them and they will break your heart when/if they have to leave....
The Donkey Sanctuary are currently saying I can't have a pair if I am going to keep them with my horses. I don't understand that, I see donkeys with horses in lots of places. Anyone know a rescue without that rule?
In theory yes not in practicalI expect that some horses can take a violent dislike to donkeys and being so much bigger and often shod, then the potential for harm could be quite big. Horses have been known to kill other horses, sheep, and dogs, so I would think that donkeys may potentially be at risk. Obviously, most horses would be fine, but I can understand the donkey sanctuary being reluctant to risk it.
Unfortunately we cannot provide donkeys as companions to horses or ponies. In circumstances where horses and/or ponies are being cared for at the same premises, it is important that these are separately managed and housed.
Ninja stealth donkeys in that photo with the sleeping horse. Wonder what they are plotting? Brilliant photo!
Have you got the Donks.....?
