I wear a tabbard, hat band and fluorescent gloves when I'm riding. My daughter does the same, although her hat band is substituted for a full hat cover. She also rides in a high viz saddle cover.

I wouldn't go out without them.

always suprised by the fact that the majority of winter jackets in the horsey cataloges are dark colours.i have found the best place for hiviz is the builders merchants.i paid £15 for a bomber style jacket, been v.warm all winter too.think hiviz must be worn on building sites_saw a sign that said NO VIZ NO HAT NO JOB.

We always wear hi viz, whether riding or leading. I even wear hi viz if I am taking hay or water to the horses when they are in the field down the road mornings and evenings - I almost mowed a girl on a bay down a few weeks ago, she was out at sunset and didnt even have anything light on.

After a while you stop feeling a prat, and just amagine what a prat you would feel when you explain to your insurance company that you were not wearing any protection when you try to claim for the death of your horse - sorry to be dramatic but a hi viz tabbard could be the difference between life and death. If you dont do it for yourself think about your horse.

Bright low sunshine is a real problem as it blinds drivers. It is very dangerous for horse and rider. My advice is to seriously avoid riding out on the roads when the sun is low and bright.
