Please Wear Gloves!

First off, Please wear gloves! I was at the yard this week off to catch my pony when YO, said if I cant catch her catch M, I said are you sure and he said sure, shes the same as your pony, too old to play about. So I caught him, and he stopped still, I gave a little pull on the lead at which point he turned around and ran. I didn't have my gloves on, and He probably would of pulled me over anyway, So I had to let go. Thankfully I didnt get any rope burn, And thankfully he didnt injure himself galloping around with headcollar and lead still attached. And also, Please remember not to wrap the lead rope around your hand. I know that if I had of wrapped it around my hand it would of be a lot worse than what happened!

I keep my horse at a BHS training yard and no-one is allowed to lead horses without both hard hat and gloves on.

I thought this was silly, till one day I was at a friends and was leading her old plod down the road, when a prat on a bicycle came down really fast behind us, saw the horse, and jammed on his brakes which made an awful screeching noise.

Said plod suddenly became anything but - and rushed forwards, dragging me along the other end of the leadrope. I had severe grazing to my elbows, knees, and hands were ripped to bits. I was also kicked in the head, but thank God not hard. I wasn't wearing hat, gloves, or body protector which would also have been a good idea.

The bloody stupid cyclist got called something he wasn't christened; after I'd picked up myself and caught the horse I did say to him please remember what's happened here when you came down too fast behind a horse and tell your other cyclist friends.

But yeah, now I'm a darned sight more careful. Its easy to get into sloppy ways innit, but the BHS rules are basically set to keep people safe.

I remember years ago i had a big black cob mare and she stiffened her neck on day and took off when i was leading her of coarse stupid me held on and lead rope went thro my grip and i got a really really bad rope burn on my hand and could not straighten my fingers was like i was still holding lead rope.
How stupid!!!!!!
