i know its soon (2 pups within a year) but Vera was really in need of a buddy and i was missing not having doggy friends milling around after losing 2 last year, so in October last year i contacted my usual running dog rescue and asked her to keep me in mind if she got a young bitch pup in.

well sure enough i had a message asking if i would be interested in a young dark brindle / white girl with similar breeding mix to Vera (whippet x collie greyhound) OBVIOUSLY I squealed at the phone and messaged back YES!

was warned that the pups were taken from breeder and were in a fairly bad state - think kept outside on mud, barely fed and not handled at all. I drove to Norfolk (again.... third time for dog collection!) which is quite a trek from Derbyshire on 27th December.

pup was a poor tiny petrified little thing. 10 weeks old

she has been "home" now for nearly 5 weeks, is slowly gaining confidence and last week was actually brave enough to be out of her cage with Vera ( we have had defensive, worried snapping and growling before this so have taken things very very slowly). on Thursday they settled down together whilst i attempted to do a little bit of work and i managed to get this pic.

Vera (14 months ) and Maud (15 weeks)

thankyou. to be honest i wasn't sure she would ever be able to live in a multi dog household or settle here, which is the reason i hadn't posted an intro for her. she is still extremely worried of anything/ anyone new and is getting a bit big to carry now (was up to 10kg last week). she had her final jab on weds but cant go out for another 3 weeks... but i suppose she will be a little bigger and more confident with what she knows so new things may be easier to process.

They're both gorgeous! Maud is a lovely name too. Echo Pearl about established dog even though it doesn't appear to make a difference - Buddy has been with us 2 months now and even though they still largely ignore each other, I am starting to see signs that he does appreciate Harvey and he is learning from him, I think.

Hope she continues to settle in - more pictures please ?

Gorgeous and I know the place she came from. Thank you for giving her a lovely home. I often look at dogs for rehoming from there, and then remember I live on a tiny boat and its just not practical.

Welcome Maud :) and you have a lovely big sister too :)' She is beautiful and I am sure she will settle. We have a boy we got at 7 months who was very scared and reactive but our older female JRT provided the quiet confidence he needed. He is fine now although still not as confident as his new younger sister. They get there in the end given the time.
