 Hi Everyone,

My 10 yr old gelding has a growth on his hind leg on the inside of his Hock, Im really worried as to what it is ..People on my yard are saying it could be a wart, Sarcoids (which i dont think it is) , it is sore for him and the area surrounding seems swollen, he is not lame on that leg just a bit stiff when u bring him out of the stable but fine after a few minutes.

I am in a position where I can't afford to get the vet out till the end of the month.

Pls if anyone knows what this is any help wud be appreciated!! x0x0x0x0

Call your vets, ask for advice, if they say they need to come out they do! Explain to them your financial issues and I'm sure they will sort a way for you to pay!

Although I don't know of many vets that demand payment on the spot anyway. My vets send a bill at the end of the month and then give you 14 days to pay it.

And if it is a serious thing you can claim on your insurance (if you have it!)

Picture? It is probably worth getting the vet out, most don't bill you for a couple of weeks so it will be the end of the month by then, if it something sinister it will be cheaper in the long run to do it sooner rather than later.

No idea what it is, it could be anything. I would give your vet a ring and explain that you can't pay yet and see what they say. It 'could' be an infection which will want treating sooner rather than later especially if he is sore and stiff. My vets send a bill at the end of the month, I think most do so that would give you more time.

I agree with both the above - call them for advice, send them a picture if you have a camera phone, then if they think they need to see it, get them out. As both previous posts have said most Vets don't send bills until the end of the month, and the sooner they see it, the cheaper it'll be in the long run!
